Meet Superstar Athletes & Their Equally Famous Other Half

To be married to a famous athlete is one thing, but to be equally famous as your half is a whole, different story. Athletes may have created a name for themselves through natural talent, hard work, and commitment, but what happens when the athletes mingle with celebrities of the same level of fame. The result is a dynamic duo, constantly bombarded with flocks of media and attention. Here are some notable pairs.

David Beckham & Victoria Adams. This international famous couple have been married for years – a significant feat rarely accomplished in their respective worlds. After almost two decades of marital bliss, having four children together, dodging tabloid rumors, and dealing with flocks of paparazzi, the twosome remain intact together and also continue to succeed in their respective careers.

Tom Brady & Gisele BunchenThe QB always get the girl, and this couple is a true example of that common testament. The pair secretly dated and married in 2009, and have been going stronger since then. Together, they have two children and have been mainly living low-key in Brady’s city of Boston. Not going to lie, they make quite the beautiful couple.

Justin Verlander & Kate Upton. He’s the premier baseball pro. She’s the ‘It’ girl and model, of the moment. And together, they make a head-turning couple. Dating since 2012, the relatively new couple have kept it surprisingly quiet, in terms of flaunting their status as a couple. A humble duo tends to stay together in the long haul, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this couple does that.

Gerard Pique & Shakira. Despite their ten year age difference (she’s 36, he’s 26), the soccer star and Latina songstress has showed time and time that age is nothing but a number. Dating for just a little over a year, Shakira recently gave birth to the couple’s first child and plan on getting married later this year. “Felicitaciones” are in order.

Mike Fisher & Carrie Underwood. The country star married her hockey hubby back in 2010 and have been going strong year by year. During an interview last year, she even shared that her husband is the epitome of a true gentleman, holding her purse when necessary. Lads, a gentleman always keeps a woman’s heart. Take notes.

Andy Roddick & Brooklyn Decker. After Mandy Moore, retired tennis player Andy asked his agent to track down Brooklyn’s phone number, and the rest was history. The two married in a quiet ceremony in Austin in 2009. Both have been supportive of each other’s careers, appearing on the sidelines. Her at Andy’s tennis matches and him at her runway shows. Support is a vital ingredient in a successful marriage and these two lovebirds exemplify
that quality in a relationship.

Lamar Odom & Khloe Kardashian. Less than a month of dating, these two tied the knot, and many people bet it wouldn’t last. But both proved everyone wrong. Married for more than two years, she has shown support of his basketball career and he has dealt with the madness and drama that comes with the Kardashian name.

Amid All Controversy, Tiger Woods Shows Who’s Boss

His love life is blooming brightly again with Lindsey Vonn. It sure looks like Tiger Woods‘s game is back on, and he proved it after garnering an effortless victory for his 17th World Golf Championship win yesterday. After dealing with years of controversy and coming off from a mediocre year, he finally showed his original form at best.

Despite competing against a strong pool of opponents, Woods demonstrated full control of the game and didn’t allow his rivals to inch near him during the tournament. Even No.1 ranked Rory McIlroy looked fragile, finishing with only 65 points due to his faulty strokes that left him behind five golfers at the final tally. And because of these few errors, Woods prevailed over his rivals to prove his game and health was up to par this year.

He also didn’t allow the media’s critique over his personal life outshine his swing. Many people probably remember him for the public mishap with his ex-wife and the cheating scandal, and many thought that would have ended his career.

But with all that in the back burner, the spotlight has centered to what he was originally known for – being a top golfer. With this hard-earned victory, he is easing back to slowly obtaining the No. 1 ranking in the world. With the Masters tournament a mere month away from starting, many people favor Woods to win it.

In all of it, he exemplifies a fine example of someone who can dominate the negative musings of society and rise again to the very top, while many celebrities and world-famed athletes have previously succumbed to it.

MLB News: Greatest Closer to Retire After 2013 Season

This baseball legend is known for closing more games than any other closer in Major League Baseball history – and he aims to end his last season on a high note. The New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera is predicted to announce his retirement this Saturday at a news conference, after playing his entire 15-year career with the same team that magnified his best work, won five championships, and selected to the All-Star game for 12 seasons.

One of the most colorful players of all time, he has faced ups and downs throughout his career. However, it is his work ethic, talents, and humble demeanor that has fellow legends, athletes, and fans idolize him to a great extent.

With 608 saves under his belt, he will enter this season with his abilities tested by the current pool of some of most elite baseball players. In fact, 2012 was supposed to be the year to end his campaign. But a season-ending injury and surgery during spring training, pushed that on the back burner.

He has another (and last) season to continue where he left off and many people predict he will naturally shine, despite being absent for a year. After all, he is the most dominant closer for the past 15 years, posting a 2.21 ERA and 1.00 WHIP – the lowest in baseball history. Lucky for us, there’s one more year, the sports realm have the privileged opportunity to watch the closer save the games in effortless fashion.

And with a week until the tournament, these collegiate teams are sure to put in blood, sweat, and tears in every game and hope to win a title at the end of all of it.

A total of 68 teams will partake in the battle for the prestigious title of NCAA champion. The Elite.

The defense aspect of the teams has hindered them from from closing out basketball games.

The Surprising. A few teams, that are not even ranked, have been predicted to make headlines this year for their respective stellar performances throughout the year. Creighton Bluejays, Wichita State, and UNLV Rebels have made names for themselves amongst a competitive pool f teams.

Fall of A Dynasty? NY Yankees Look Weak

The New York Yankees, the team with the most championships in sports history, have appeared to fallen off the favorable radar for this MLB season. Despite carrying a lineup boosted by all-star power, multiple factors have contributed to their demise prior to the regular season. Here are factors that shape their current state.

Injuries. The Yankees have been plagued by numerous injuries since early in the first-round playoffs last year. Disgruntled third baseman Alex Rodriguez and top-notch outfielder Curtis Granderson will be out early this season due to surgeries. Meanwhile, the face of the Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will be returning from an injured ankle. Other key players such as closer Mariano Rivera and Brett Gardner will also be coming back after rehabilitating injuries most of last season.

Age. They say that age is nothing, but a number. However when it comes to maintaining the physical stamina and strength, the Yankees fail in this aspect. A majority of the players are over the ages of 30, leaving the fountain of youth scarce and not an ample of proteges for the next few years. Previous statistics demonstrate that the team tends to fall apart when most of the players fall in over 35 years of category.

Chemistry. The dynamic in the clubhouse has certainly changed as Yankee fan favorites such as Nick Swisher, Eric Chavez, Raul Ibanez, and Russell Martin have changed zip codes after the 2012 season, leaving the Yankees to pursue other new faces, who still continue to adjust to the team’s playing style.

Quiet off-season. This team is known for making bold moves by pursuing big name players to join them but oddly, this year proved to be a quiet one. They could have easily signed free agent stars such as Josh Hamilton but the Yankees opted out and stuck with most of their players on the current roster. Time will tell if this will benefit or harm them in the process…

While the NY Yankees are known for their boisterous lineup, this season might bring another vibe, unfamiliar to the team as well as to their fans. Changes need to be made to maintain their image, or else they might possibly face the fall of their dynasty…
